Applicants in Express Entry programs will now be selected based on new categories, according to a statement from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The announcement comes almost a full year after a bill was approved giving the immigration minister the power to invite Express Entry applicants who possess particular qualities that will promote Canada's economic objectives. Although targeted draws were widely anticipated to start this year, the IRCC has yet to formally indicate what characteristics would be utilized as selection criteria.
