
It has been announced that Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi will serve as the acting CBN's governor.
On March 7, 1962, Mr. Folashodun Adebisi was born. He attended the University of Lagos from 1978 to 1983, and he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. In 1985, he received a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Production Engineering from the same university. Between 1988 to 1989, he switched his major in finance and graduated with a master's in business administration with a finance specialization.
He began his career with Mek-ind Associates, where he worked from 1984 to 1989 as an engineer consultant. Between 1989 and 1990, he was a marketing executive for Inlaks Computers Limited. He served as Citibank Nigeria Limited's Head of Treasury Operations from 1990 until 1993. Before he went to MBC International Limited in 1999 to occupy the role of Deputy General Manager, Banking Operations & Information Technology, he worked at Agusto & Co. Ltd. He worked as a supervising consultant from 1993 until 1996. From 1999 till 2002, he served as Vice-President, Operations & Information Technology for First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Limited.
He went from FCMB to Ecobank Nigeria Plc in 2003 to serve as Executive Director, Operations & Information Technology. He joined Renaissance Securities Nigeria Limited in 2007 as Director of Corporate Services and Information Technology.
He served as Executive Director, Operations, Technology, and Services at Union Bank of Nigeria Limited from September 2009 to April 2012.
From May 2012 to October 2018, he served as the CEO and Managing Director of Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc.
Since October 2018, Mr. Folashodun has held the position of Deputy Governor, Operations, at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Since December 9, 2019, he has served as the CBN Governor's representative on the FIRS Board. He is married with children.
